STI's first of many community or CSA greenhouse is planned for Georgetown.  It will be similar to the one shown in the photo - but will use polycarbonate sheeting as the cover.

Did you know a geodesic dome is the strongest roof structure you can build?

                      What will be grown?

                      Picture
                      • Fruits, vegetables, sprouts, kitchen herbs, and edible mushrooms.
                      • Mostly heirloom varieties
                      • From organic seeds and using organic methods

                      Who will benefit?

                      Picture
                      • Gardening students who practice organic methods in the greenhouse
                      • Local residents & members of the CSA
                      • Local residents who take STI's sustainability classes
                      • Kids at Georgetown Community School

This project has volunteers and donated materials - but cash is still required.  We need to raise approximately $18,000.  If you can help raise funds, please email Laura@EnjoyEducation.org.  Or provide a tax deductible donation now.

JAZZ and New Age Jazz Concert benefits the greenhouse initiative.

An amazing concert was performed at
Shadows Ranch on October 15th.  The buffet dinner was delicious.  Those in attendance were treated to 3 excellent and unique performances.

                      More Details:

                      • Making it happen -  If you live in Clear Creek County, and would like to be involved, please contact us as your help will be greatly appreciated!  We will need assistance with construction (exterior and interior), permitting, fund-raising, and planning.  Contact Laura@EnjoyEducation.org if you're interested in helping!
                      • Georgetown Community School - Students from the kindergarten and grades 2, 3, and 6 are also getting involved in this project.  They'll watch the design and permitting process and enjoy incorporating trips to the greenhouse into their science units next Spring.  The students will also name the greenhouse.
                      • Education - is at the heart of this initiative.  STI will offer Sustainability Classes about organic gardening, food preservation, nutrition, making coffee logs and more.  Our students will also be our gardeners.
                      • Location - Georgetown is planned for the first greenhouse.  We have several sites under consideration all of which are in designated zoning for non-profit (501C3) community greenhouses.
                      • Design plans - 50ft dome with multi-level growing.  Additional lighting will be required.
                      • Your donation is needed to build this greenhouse in 2012.  Please donate now.
